Today at 7 pm, Rocky Mountain PBS to feature the historic Brighton Buddhist Church as part of the Colorado Experience series.
The episode looks at the history and transformation of the church into what is now Big Choice Brewing. Built in 1940 by Japanese Americans, the historic stucco-surfaced structure (built block-by-block) served as a place of worship until 2005.
After the building was vacant for a decade, a local architect spearheaded preservation efforts, bringing together business owners, municipalities, architects, developers and elected officials, and transforming the local landmark into a 20-tap brewery that is now a beacon for Brighton’s downtown district.
Colorado Experience, Rocky Mountain PBS’s original, award-winning history series, explores the people, events and places that have shaped Colorado. Now in its eighth season, Colorado Experience airs Thursdays at 7 and 7:30 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS!
