Downtown Brighton

Downtown has always been the heart of Brighton. But when a group of civic leaders took it under their wings, the city's 100-year-old Main Street had begun to show its age. With the help of legendary historic preservationist Dana Crawford, they came up with a revitalization plan that builds on downtown's successful businesses as well as its historically significant buildings.

The City of Brighton started by spending $15 million on infrastructure and new developments. A number of property owners followed suit, making new investments and in the process attracting other investors. The Brighton Urban Renewal Authority continues to attract and support new commercial development efforts in the downtown core. In conjunction with the development community, it brought the new Brighton Pavilions retail project downtown. The Pavilions is a regional model for joint retail /RTD parking use. It also enhances downtown's Highway 85 entrance and brings consumers into the area.

As Brighton continues to attract new commercial development, continued investment in downtown is critical to maintaining the city's strong heritage. Downtown is a vital part of Brighton's strong community identity; continuing its role as a civic congregating point is important to ensuring that sense of identity

Downtown Visioning

The citizens of Brighton will ensure the vitality of their downtown by participating in the Downtown Visioning process. This  outcome oriented program combines the citizens' expertise with that of Urban Transitions, a Denver-based community revitalization organization.

Brighton’s downtown effort has benefited greatly from the involvement of the Downtown Task Force, a unique partnership among entities that include Brighton Economic Development Corporation, Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Historic Preservation and the City of Brighton.
