Prior to his appointment, Raymond served as Deputy Cabinet Secretary of Labor under New Mexico’s Governor, Bill Richardson. He was charged with restructuring New Mexico’s workforce system in an effort to meet current and emerging needs of businesses and employers. He partnered with other state agencies to help create a long-term collaborative strategic direction for Workforce, Economic Development, Education and Higher Education. As Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Secretary Gonzales was responsible for operating and managing a $55 million budget. The Department was comprised of 600 employees with five divisions that specialized in the delivery of a full-range of programs: Economic Research and Analysis, local and regional labor market information, Apprenticeship, Wage and Hour, Child Labor, Public Works, Human Rights, Workforce Investment,
Wagner-Peyser, Unemployment Insurance and Veterans Employment Services.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Secretary, Raymond served as a Federal Representative for the United States Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration where he provided leadership, oversight, policy guidance and technical assistance for employment and training programs. During his time there, he served as the lead for the National Business Learning Project, a national peer-to-peer mentoring project designed for workforce investment boards engaged in transformational approaches to workforce investment. He also served as a Federal Partner in the Denver Workforce Innovation Regional Economic Development Initiative, which aims to expand employment and advancement opportunities for American workers and spur the creation of high skill and high wage opportunities throughout the country. With eleven years of federal experience Raymond is considered an expert on workforce programs.
From 1996-2000, Raymond was employed by the United States Peace Corps as the Regional Administrative Officer where he assumed full responsibility of financial, budgetary, and accounting operations for a five state regional office. He began his civil service career with the Educational Opportunity Center where he worked to create post-secondary educational and training opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Adams County, Colorado. Raymond was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Regis University. He attributes much of who he is and what he has become to where he comes from….Brighton. He and his wife, Lisandra, and their two children are excited to “come home” to Brighton. They are eager to offer their children the advantages and quality of life that can only be found in a community such as Brighton.
Teri Sanchez

Small Business Assistance Center Coordinator

Teri Sanchez joined Brighton Economic Development Corporation in 2001. Working with a group of volunteer business owners, she established the Brighton Small Business Resource Center in 2003. The center received DIA Partnership's prestigious “Sky is the Limit” award in 2004. In 2009 the resource center joined the Metro North Small Business Development Center at Front Range Community College as a sub-center of the state network of SBDC Centers. Teri is currently coordinating the efforts of the Small Business Assistance Center at the Brighton Learning & Resource Center in the BEDC office.
Teri also staffs the Workforce Development and Education committee as well as Business Relations and Entreprenurship committee for BEDC. She is also the unofficial photographer for BEDC.
Teri's background is in training and curriculum development. She has conducted training throughout Region VIII and has owned several small businesses. She holds an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently finishing course work in Behavorial Science. She has a certificate from the NexLevel Entrepreneurship Program from FRCC and is a Certified Bilingual Trainer of Trainers.
